Ebola Claims Lives of Two Congo Soldiers in East, Military Says

(Bloomberg) -- Two soldiers in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo died of Ebola, an army spokesman said, the latest victims of an outbreak that began in August and has claimed more than 460 lives.

The men died Monday in Beni, a city in North Kivu province, local military spokesman Mak Hazukay said by phone. The outbreak of the deadly virus in Congo’s east, a vast area home to dozens of militia groups, is the world’s biggest after the one that struck West Africa between 2014 and 2016.

Three other soldiers with suspected Ebola are being monitored, Hazukay said.
