Chief House Tax Writer Says Goal Is to Release Bill on Nov. 1

(Bloomberg) -- House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady said a tax bill could be released Nov. 1 if the budget is passed this week.

“That’s the timetable we’re shooting for,” Brady told reporters Tuesday.

The House is scheduled to vote Thursday on the Senate budget resolution, according to a House leadership aide -- a crucial step to passing a tax bill with only Republican votes. The tax-writing Ways and Means panel is planning on marking up a bill the week of Nov. 6 and sending it to the House floor for a vote the week of Nov. 13, two tax lobbyists who spoke with House GOP aides said earlier this week. The lobbyists asked not to be named.
