Bihar Elections 2020: BJP, JD(U) Arrive At Seat Sharing Formula; LJP Snubbed
The BJP, JD(U) and the LJP are in alliance in the Centre as well as in the state.
The ruling National Democratic Alliance has announced its seat-sharing formula for Bihar Elections 2020. The Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (United) have split equally the 243 constituencies in the state. The Lok Janshakti Party, whose chief Chirag Paswan had raised a banner of revolt, has been rebuffed.
The BJP, JD(U) and LJP are in alliance in the central government as well as in the state.
"The JD(U) has got 122 seats, out of which we have set aside seven for the Hindustani Awam Morcha, headed by Jitan Ram Manjhi,” Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said in Patna on Tuesday. “The BJP has got the remaining 121 wherein new entrant Vikassheel Insaan Party of Mukesh Sahni will be accommodated”, he said.
When asked about the LJP’s share, Bihar BJP Chief Sanjay Jaiswal said, “LJP is our ally at the Centre and we pray for early recovery of its founder and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. But there should be no confusion with regard to the fact that in Bihar, the NDA’s leader is Nitish Kumar. Our alliance with his party is atoot (unbreakable).”
Responding to a query about post-poll scenario, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said, "We have unequivocally said that Nitish Kumar will be our chief minister. It does not matter which party gets how many seats in the elections.”
Kumar did not mention Chirag Paswan by name but said, “I believe in doing my job. If some people derive pleasure out of saying something inconsequential, they are most welcome to do so. It does not bother me.”

He, however, sought to repudiate Chirag Paswan’s allegation that JD(U) has not treated well its alliance partners in the state. "Did Ram Vilas Paswan get elected to the Rajya Sabha without JD(U)s support?” he asked.
