The Kerala government won’t appeal against the Supreme Court order on women entering the Sabarimala shrine, said Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac. Isaac said his government was committed to upholding the apex court’s verdict which permitted women of all ages to enter the temple, regardless of their menstrual cycle.

Kerala has been on the edge for the past three days as agitated devotees held violent protests at the entry points of the temple to prevent women from entering the hill shrine. Two women, under heavy police protection, made their way up only to be denied entry by priests.
Isaac, in an interaction with BloombergQuint, expressed confidence at the state gaining control of the situation soon. The state government will undertake a massive outreach programme next month to spread awareness and educate people about the court verdict and its implications, he said. This includes holding home visits, rallies and as many as 2,000 renaissance meetings in the state starting from Nov. 1.
Isaac also blamed the BJP and the RSS for pushing communal agenda and disrupting communal harmony in the state.
