Austria Extends Quarantine to Lech, Zuers Luxury Ski Resorts: Report

(Bloomberg) --

Austria widened its quarantined regions, adding the famous luxury ski resorts of Lech and Zuers to neighboring St. Anton, the Vorarlberger Nachrichten newspaper reported, citing local officials.

The quarantine now includes almost the entire Arlberg, Austria’s largest ski region attracting the rich and famous including European royal families, businessmen and investors, and sports and entertainment stars.

St. Anton and Ischgl were the first ski resorts to be quarantined by Austria last week. The authorities in the Tyrol province have come under criticism for closing them too late under pressure from the tourism industry.
