Need 'Kashmiriyat, Jamhooriyat, Insaaniyat' in Jammu & Kashmir, Says Modi

The people of Jammu & Kashmir will soon have facilities to develop their villages, said Modi.

Solutions will be brought to the state with 'Kashmiriyat, Jamhooriyat, Insaaniyat', Modi said, echoing Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s approach towards the region.

Law Is Supreme, Says PM Modi

“The rule of law is supreme, there can be no compromise with it,” said Prime Minister Modi speaking about violence across the nation, especially those against women.

“We have to free our society and country from this disgusting mentality of rape. Recently in Madhya Pradesh a rapist was hanged by fast track court. We should spread this news and make people aware,” he said.

“Rule of law is supreme, no one can take law in their hands.”

He further spoke about the progress made under the Triple Talaq law.

“The practice of Triple Talaq has caused great injustice to Muslim women. We are striving to end this practice but there are some people who are not wanting it to end. I promise the Muslim women that I will work to ensure justice is done to them,” he said.

Modi On Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan

Speaking about the insurance pillar of the Ayushman Bharat programme, Modi said that around 10 crore families will get health coverage worth Rs 5 lakh under the scheme.

Modi Says

  • In the last two years, more than 5 crore Indians have progressed above the poverty line, Modi said, citing an international report.
  • More than 6 crore non-existent people had been receiving government benefits in the past. “Our government has put a stop to this corruption”, he said.
  • Rs 90,000 crore that was in the wrong hands is now being used for the country's welfare.
“When you sit for a meal today, believe me, 3 crore underprivileged are also having a meal because of the tax you have paid.”

  • A World Health Organisation report stated that 3 lakh children's lives have been saved due to our efforts of ‘Swachh Bharat’.
  • “As significant as economic growth, is dignity of the individual,” Modi said. Our schemes such as Ujjwala and Saubhagya Yojana are enhancing the dignity of fellow Indians.

Aim To Double Farmer Incomes, Says Modi

With a 'beej se bazar tak' approach, we are bringing exceptional reforms in the agriculture sector, Modi said.

“Our aim is to double farmer incomes by 2022.”

India To Undertake Manned Space Mission By 2022

After India’s mission on the Moon and Mars, we will now undertake a manned mission to outer space by 2022, Modi said.

“In 2022, a child of India will go to outer space with the national flag.”

Highlights Of The Last Four Years

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the economic and policy reform decisions taken over the last four years.

India was once known for its “policy paralysis”, but today, it is the destination for multi-trillion dollars of investment, he said.

“We keep the courage to make tough decisions.”

Making His Case

Prime Minister Modi touted the case for his government in today’s speech, reminding the country of the upcoming general elections in 2019.

Compare where India was in 2013 in all aspects to the extent of the work done in the last four years, he said. “By the 2013 pace of change, we would have taken decades to deliver toilets, gas connections, digital connectivity that we have,” Modi said.

“India’s land is the same, as are its citizens and government offices, but major change has happened in four years.”

'Justice, Opportunity For All'

The Indian Constitution guides us to deliver justice to the poor, opportunity to progress for all, Modi said.

The country’s 125 crore people in 2014, did not just elect a government. They also came together to develop the country and that is the strength of this country.

The Prime Minister began his speech by remembering the country's freedom fighters, veterans and other security forces, thanking them for their services.

The country today finds itself “full of self-confidence, ambition, and enthusiasm”, he said.

PM Modi Likely To Launch Ayushman Bharat Scheme On Independence Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to announce the launch of the Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Scheme on a pilot basis in some states today, with a full-scale roll-out of his pet project expected in September-end, sources earlier told PTI.

The ambitious National Health Protection Mission aims to provide a coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family annually, benefiting more than 10 crore poor families.

The scheme will target poor, deprived rural families and identified occupational category of urban workers’ families, 8.03 crore in rural and 2.33 crore in urban areas, according to the latest Socio-Economic Caste Census. The scheme will cover around 50 crore people.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will talk about the scheme in his Independence Day speech and is also likely to announce its launch on a pilot basis in some states tomorrow,” a government official said.
