Trump Pays Respects to Secret Service Agent Who Died on Scotland Trip

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump traveled to Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday to pay their respects to the family of a Secret Service agent who died after suffering a stroke while on duty during the president’s trip to Scotland.

Nole Remagen, the Secret Service Special agent, died Tuesday morning.

His body was flown to the Maryland air base on Wednesday, according to a Secret Service statement. Remagen was 42, according to CNN, and was married with two young children. CNN reported that he was found unresponsive Saturday while working an overnight shift at Trump’s Scotland resort protecting National Security Adviser John Bolton.

Trump visited Scotland over the weekend, staying at his golf resort in Turnberry, prior to his summit with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.

Remagen spent 19 years in the Secret Service where he was “a dedicated professional of the highest order,” according to a statement by the Secret Service.

“Our prayers are with Special Agent Remagen’s loved ones, including his wife and two young children. We grieve with them and with his Secret Service colleagues, who have lost a friend and a brother,” Trump said in a statement.
