Second Air Mishap In Maharashtra In As Many Days
The five people killed in today’s crash include two pilots and two aircraft maintenance engineers on board and a pedestrian in the Ghatkopar area, police said.
The plane, which crashed in the Jagruti Nagar locality shortly after 1 pm today, once belonged to the Uttar Pradesh government and was sold to UY Aviation, an official said.
As reports of the crash came in, police, fire brigade and disaster management teams rushed to the spot and bodies of those killed were taken to the nearby Rajawadi hospital in Ghatkopar, a civic official said.

This is the second air mishap in Maharashtra in as many days, wire agency PTI reported. The pilot and flight test engineer of a Sukhoi Su-30M aircraft of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. had ejected safely after it crashed near Nashik yesterday.
UP Aviation Minister Says Incident Has Nothing To Do With Government

Black Box Recovered
The black box of the crashed chartered plane has been recovered, ANI tweeted.

Plane Does Not Belong To UP Government: Principal Secretary
The chartered plane doesn't belong to the Uttar Pradesh government, ANI reported, quoting Principal Secretary to the UP Chief Minister Avnish Awasthi.
“The state government had sold it to Mumbai-based UY Aviation. This was after the plane met with an accident in Allahabad,” the news agency tweeted, citing Awasthi.

Five Killed In Chartered Aircraft Crash: DGCA
Five people have been killed in the crash, DGCA Statement said.
Two pilots, two aircraft maintenance engineers on board and one person on ground are dead in the Mumbai chartered plane crash, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Suresh Prabhu Orders Detailed Probe
Expressing shock at the accident, Minister for Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu directed Ministry officials to rush to the spot in Ghatkopar area of Mumbai and provide all possible assistance, according to a media statement.
The Minister also directed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to investigate the plane crash — and a team from the regulatory body is on its way. It’s expected that the detailed enquiry will be done by Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.

Chartered Plane Crashes In Ghatkopar
A chartered plane crashed in a Mumbai locality today, police said.
The King Air C90 12-seater aircraft, which took off from the Juhu airstrip, crashed in the Jagruti Nagar area of Ghatkopar, PTI reported, quoting Mumbai Police.
Police, fire brigade and disaster management teams rushed to the spot, Akhilesh Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-7) told PTI.
Four fire engines have reached the spot, a BMC official said.
