Hammond Pledges Transparency Before Parliament Brexit Vote

(Bloomberg) -- The U.K. finance ministry will make its data and modelling on Brexit and the economy available once lawmakers are ready to vote on a possible new deal with the European Union, according to Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond.

“I’ve made a commitment to you which I will reiterate today to maximum possible transparency in terms of our data and modelling once we get to that point, where we have a deal and we’re putting it before Parliament to deliver a meaningful vote on,” Hammond said Wednesday, answering questions before the House of Commons Treasury Committee.

The Treasury needs to withhold that information currently because of “confidentiality considerations around the negotiations” that will “melt away” once there is an agreement to put before the Commons, he said.
