Trump Slams Comey for Exonerating Clinton Based on Politics

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump lit into Former FBI Director James Comey on Monday for drafting his exoneration of Hillary Clinton based on political polls that showed her winning the 2016 election, in the latest back-and-forth between the two.

"Comey drafted the Crooked Hillary exoneration long before he talked to her (lied in Congress to Senator G), then based his decisions on her poll numbers,” Trump said in a posting on Twitter. “Disgruntled, he, McCabe, and the others, committed many crimes!"

The comments came the morning after Comey, in a highly anticipated interview ahead of release of his book, "A Higher Loyalty," called the president "morally unfit" for office and said he couldn’t rule out the possibility that the Russian government has incriminating information about him.

“I think it’s possible. I don’t know,” Comey said in an interview with ABC News’ Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos, when asked whether Trump has been “compromised” by the Russians. “These are more words I never thought I’d utter about a president of the United States, but it’s possible.”
