Venkat Rahul Ragala is inching towards a gold medal with a lift of 187 kg in his second attempt during the clean and jerk round. He’s leading the category with a total of 338 kg.

Venkat Rahul Ragala successfully lifts 182 kg in the clean and jerk round. He is currently leading in the event with a total lift of 333 kg.
Weightlifting: Venkat Rahul Ragala Finishes Joint-First in 85 kg Category
Venkat Rahul Ragala is looking like another medal prospect for India. He lifted a best of 151 kg to finish joint-first in the snatch round. Now on to the clean and jerk round.
Samoa’s Don Opeloge also finished with a best lift of 151 kg in the snatch round.

Sarita Devi qualifies for the quarter-finals after defeating Barbados’ Kimberly Gittens 5-0 in the 60 kg category.
Cycling: Manjeet Singh Finishes 13th in 15km Scratch Race Qualifying
India’s Manjeet Singh finishes 13th in the men’s 15km Scratch Race Qualifying round. Manjeet finished the race before three cyclists who did not finish. The Indian missed a spot in the final by one rank. The top 12 cyclists in each heat qualify for the final.
Pakistan Equalise in the Final Seconds of the Match
In the dying seconds of the match, Pakistan ask for a video referral. They want to see if an Indian player touched the ball with his leg. To Pakistan’s fortune, the referral goes their way and they get a penalty corner.
Pakistan seal the opportunity and find the back of the net, leaving India no chance for a counter attack.
Sreejesh Standing Like a Rock
First, Sreejesh blocks out a one on one tackle and then dives to his right to keep out another shot by the Pakistanis. Sreejesh is certainly India’s star of the match.

The move was started by SV Sunil who made a solo run from the half-way line and passed it straight to Dilpreet. The 18-year-old, playing his first international match however did not miss. The Pakistani keeper was beaten with ease and India have the lead.

Swimming: Sajan Prakash in 200m Butterfly Finals
Sajan Prakash has just about managed to qualify for the finals of the men's 200 metre Butterfly event.
Sajan recorded a timing of 1:58.87 seconds to better his own national record of 1:59.10, and finish at the fifth spot in Heat 2 of the qualification round.
England's Jacob Peters topped the qualifications, clocking 1:58.42 seconds.

After finishing fourth in the women’s 63 kg weightlifting at the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Vandna would be looking to better her record in the Games as she competes in the same category.
Sathish Says He Had Lost Hope Of a Medal
After bagging his gold medal, Sathish Sivalingam revealed that he had in fact lost all hope of successfully defending his CWG title after injuring himself at the National Championship.
"I had no hopes of winning a medal after I injured my thighs during the National Championships while attempting 194kg in clean and jerk. It's a quadriceps problem, even now I am competing at less than ideal fitness but I am glad that was enough to get me a gold," Sathish said.

The Indian men’s hockey team start their campaign at the Commonwealth Games today with the much-anticipated match against Pakistan.
Vying for their first CWG gold, the Indian men’s hockey team is grouped in Pool B with with Malaysia, Wales, England and also Pakistan.
The head-to-head record between the India and Pakistan though has become a bit skewed in India’s favour, over the last two years. In the six matches they have featured in, India has emerged winners in each, by a convincing margin.
Badminton: Kidambi Wins, India in Semis
Kidambi Srikanth beats Georges Julien Paul 21-12, 21-14 in 29 minutes to help India beat Mauritius 3-0 and progress to the semi-finals of the mixed team badminton event. The men's and women's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty and Ashwini Ponnappa-N Sikki Reddy had given India a 2-0 lead before Srikanth sealed the tie for India.
Swimming: Srihari Nataraj Enters 50 m Backstroke Semis
Srihari Nataraj qualifies for the semi-finals of the men’s 50 m backstroke. Srihari’s 26.47-second effort in the heats was ninth fastest. In doing so, Srihari broke another national record with a 26.47-second effort in the heats. This was his third national record in as many starts. He improved on his own mark of 26.58 seconds set in the National championship in Bhopal on 8 October 201

Badminton: Ashwini Ponnappa-Sikki Reddy Win
Ashwini and Sikki win against Mauritian pair of Aurelie Marie Elisa Allet and Nicki Chan-Lam straight games in 21 minutes to take a 2-0 lead in the mixed team badminton event. Ashwini and Sikki won 21-8, 21-7.
Weightlifting: Gold for Sathish Sivalingam
India’s Sathish Sivalingam clinches the gold with a total lift of 317 kg. Sivalingam successfully lifted 173 kg in his second attempt in the clean and jerk event. After being assured of a Gold, Sivalingam didn’t take a third attempt. In the snatch category, Sivalingam lifted 144 kg. He was the defending champion in the category from Glasgow 2014.

With 11.400 points from the floor exercise, Yogeshwar Singh now has 63.350 points from five events (rings, vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar & floor exercise).

India’s Yogeshwar Singh now has 51.950 points from four events (rings, vault, parallel bars, horizontal bar), after he garners 12.250 points from the horizontal bar. He needs to do extremely well in floor exercises and pommel horse to be in the fray for medals.
Weightlifting: Sathish Sivalingam Nails Third Attempt
After lifting 136 kg and 140 kg in his first two attempts, Sivalingam’s third snatch lift is of 144kg. However, England’s Jack Oliver beats that by one kilogram but his third lift of 148 kg is unsuccessful.
At the end of snatch event, Francois Etoundi is eight kilograms behind the Indian with a best lift of 132kg.

In the men’s 77 kg weightlifting event, Sathish Kumar Sivalingam will be looking to replicate his gold medal performance from the Glasgow Commonwealth Championship last year. He will face a stiff competition from Malaysia’s Abdul Mubin Rahim, Sri Lankan Chinthana Vidanage and England’s Oliver Jack.
Indians in Action on Day 3
With 2 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze in their tally after the first two days, Indian are set for another big day at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast on Saturday, 7 April. The highlight of the quadrennial game’s Day 3 will be the Indian men’s hockey team’s campaign opener against arch-rivals Pakistan, scheduled to be played at 10:00 am IST.
In the other big event of the day, Manoj Kumar will take on Tanzania’s Kassim Mbundwike in the round of 16 in men’s boxing 69 kg category. The star boxer had advanced after convincingly thrashing Osita Umeh of Nigeria 5-0 by unanimous verdict on Thursday, 5 April.
Another Indian boxer, Hussamuddin Mohammed, will also be fighting against Boe Warawara in the men’s 56kg round of 16, scheduled to start at 3:17 pm.
