(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that progress is being made toward conducting talks with North Korea over its nuclear arsenal.

“Possible progress being made in talks with North Korea. For the first time in many years, a serious effort is being made by all parties concerned,” Trump said in a tweet. “The World is watching and waiting! May be false hope, but the U.S. is ready to go hard in either direction!”

Trump’s comment came after North Korea told South Korea it was willing to consider giving up its nuclear weapons, opening the door for talks with the U.S. while raising suspicions that Kim Jong Un was employing another tactic to ease sanctions.
