Facebook, Twitter, Google to Attend Third Congressional Hearing

(Bloomberg) -- Facebook Inc., Twitter Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google have agreed to send representatives to a third congressional hearing next week following revelations that Russians exploited their networks during last year’s elections.

Those scheduled to testify before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee on Oct. 31 will be: Colin Stretch, general counsel of Facebook; Sean Edgett, acting general counsel of Twitter; and Richard Salgado, director of law enforcement and information security at Google.

The companies’ general counsels are slated to attend Senate and House intelligence committee hearings the following day.

Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, chairman of the Judiciary subcommittee holding the hearing, has said that in addition to Russian election interference, he wants to discuss the use of the companies’ networks by extremist groups and whether new laws are needed to regulate social media.
