Prime Minister Has A Packed Agenda As Trump Awaits A ‘True Friend’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be meeting U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday. Modi will spend five hours with the U.S. President starting 3:30 pm New York time (1:00 am IST).

The Indian Prime Minister is visiting the U.S. for the fourth time since he assumed office. Modi will start his day as early as 11 am local time.

  • His first meeting is with Jim Mattis, U.S. Secretary of Defence, at Willard Intercontinental, where the Indian contingent is staying.
  • The meeting will be followed by another meeting, this time with Rex W Tillerson, U.S. Secretary of State, at the same venue.

Modi-Trump Meet

  • 15:35: The Prime Minister arrives at the White House.
  • 15:40: Modi will spend 10 minutes at the Roosevelt Room, signing the Visitors Book.
  • 15:50-16:10: The Prime Minister will have a one-on-one meeting with the U.S. President Donald Trump, before the delegation-level talks begin.
  • 16:10-17:10: India-U.S. delegation-level talks.
  • 17:10-17:30: A press statement by Prime Minister Modi and U.S. President Trump at the Rose Garden.
  • 17:30-18:00: A cocktail reception hosted by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.
  • 18:00-20:00: Working Dinner hosted by the U.S. President for Prime Minister Modi and Indian delegation at the Blue Room.
  • 21:10: Prime minister departs for Netherlands.
