In a span of 24 hours, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was detained by the Delhi Police for the third time on Thursday evening. Gandhi had arrived at Jantar Mantar to participate in a candle light march organised by the Congress, when he was asked to remain seated inside a PCR van for more than 30 minutes. He was later released from detention.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi was among the top line of politicians who attended retired jawan Ram Kishan Grewal’s last rites in Haryana’s Bhiwani. Apart from top Congress leaders, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too reached Bhiwani, where he pledged to pressurise the central government over One Rank One Pension.

Even as Grewal’s mortal remains were consigned to flames, the political controversy over his suicide continued to rage. MoS VK Singh questioned Grewal’s suicide, alleging that he was a Congress worker, whose untimely demise could not be attributed to OROP.

The Congress was quick to hit back, with Raj Babbar demanding that Singh’s ‘General’ title be stripped off .
