BQPortfolio speaks to citizens from across India about their financial goals and helps them access expert advice on how to achieve them.

Ekta Mehta, a 22-year-old actuarial associate and a resident of Mumbai, commutes by taxi. And she says she’s tired of it.

The black and yellow cabs often refuse her saying the fare is not big enough. And when she tries to book a cab online, she usually has to contend with a long wait time or surge fees.

Mehta now wants to buy her own car—a Volkswagen Polo—by 2021. But she has to decide whether to buy it cash down, or take a loan.

On this episode of BQ Portfolio, Arvind Rao, certified financial planner and founder of Arvind Rao & Associates, tells Mehta how she should go about buying her first car.
