Aditya Upadhyay, 26, designs and tests video games for a living. But even someone whose work seems like constant entertainment needs a break.

Upadhyay hopes to visit Europe in a couple of years and anticipates he will need about Rs 5 lakh to do so. With his salary expected to rise substantially this year, that doesn’t seem too difficult.

But he has a personal loan that he’s repaying. Upadhyay borrowed money to renovate his parents’ house. Also, he intends to move out of his parents’ house and live on rent. So, he expects he will need to put some money aside to pay for the deposit that the landlord is certain to ask for.
