Yale Confirms School Failed to Submit Foreign Funding Sources

(Bloomberg) -- Yale University, one of several schools under investigation by the U.S. Education Department for failing to report foreign gifts and contributions from countries including China, acknowledged it didn’t submit required reports for several years.

  • The Education Department was correct when it found that the school failed to report such funding from 2014 to 2017, said Karen Peart, a Yale spokeswoman.
  • When Yale became aware of the oversight last year, “we moved as quickly as possible to address it,” she said in an emailed statement. The information was submitted in November.
  • Colleges are required to report contracts or gifts from any foreign source valued at $250,000 or more in a calendar year.
