WeWork Closes Some China Locations in Coronavirus Safety Steps

(Bloomberg) -- WeWork temporarily closed some of its locations in China due to precautionary or mandatory measures, according to a statement on its website.

  • As per government advice, some locations won’t open any earlier than Feb. 9
  • More than 50 locations across Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou, Shenzhen and Wuhan (where two locations are closed until further notice as per government guidance) are impacted
  • “WeWork is monitoring the situation closely and following the government and health authorities’ instructions to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus,” the statement said
  • Across all of WeWork’s Asia Pacific locations, measures are being taken to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus
  • “WeWork is encouraging members to work from home when possible and in private offices or conference rooms while in their WeWork location”: statement
  • Other arrangements in locations that remain open include reduced visitors, temperature checks, limited pantry snacks and drinks and extra cleaning and disinfecting
