Violence at the Border: The Latest Footage From Venezuela

(Bloomberg) -- What was supposed to be a symbolic moment devolved into chaos as protesters clashed with Venezuelan security forces along the Colombian border. Rather than the humanitarian aid shipments originally scheduled to cross the international bridges, volleys of rubber bullets, rocks and tear gas were exchanged.

Fear of violent tensions surrounding the Saturday shipments ran high following bloodshed on Friday, when Venezuelan soldiers killed at least one and injured more than a dozen along a remote stretch on the Brazilian border.

The aid initiative is a watershed in U.S.-backed opposition leader Juan Guaido’s campaign to replace President Nicolas Maduro, which began last month.
