UBS Hires Coutts Veteran Jones to Advise Richest U.K. Clients

(Bloomberg) -- UBS Group AG hired Adrian Jones from Coutts as a managing director advising billionaire clients in the U.K., according to a memo seen by Bloomberg News and confirmed by the bank.

Jones spent 30 years as an adviser at Coutts, a unit of Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc, and became the leader of the international business for Europe and the Americas. He will report to James Whittaker, head of UBS’s ultra-high-net-worth clients in the U.K.

UBS is the world’s biggest wealth manager and oversaw around 515 billion francs ($516 billion) of assets for wealthy clients in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as of Sept. 30.

The U.K., with its crown dependencies of Jersey and Guernsey, remains a hotspot for wealth management even as banks move traders out of the country due to Brexit. Swiss bank Julius Baer Group Ltd. in September named eight relationship managers in the U.K. to service ultra-rich clients.
