Boris Johnson Names Mark Carney as Finance Adviser for COP26

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has named outgoing Bank of England Governor Mark Carney as his finance adviser for the COP26 United Nations climate change conference.

Carney’s “key focus will be mobilizing ambitious action from across the financial system needed to help achieve the 1.5 degree goal of the Paris Agreement,” the BOE said in a press release. The 26th session of the Conference of the Parties will take place in Glasgow in November.

The appointment was made at a meeting between the two men at Downing Street on Thursday. The role will be part time and undertaken on a pro-bono basis.
