After Barney’s Bankruptcy, Ex-CEO Joins Tiffany

(Bloomberg) -- Tiffany & Co. has hired the former top executive at Barneys New York only weeks after she left the ailing department store.

Daniella Vitale, who exited her role as chief executive of Barneys after it was sold out of bankruptcy, will become Tiffany’s chief brand officer, according to an internal letter sent to employees Wednesday. In that role, she’ll oversee global merchandising and marketing strategy and will start on Dec. 1.

“In her time at Barneys, Daniella was an arbiter of what’s on trend,” Tiffany CEO Alessandro Bogliolo wrote in the letter. The jeweler has been working to attract younger shoppers to the 182-year-old brand as its key customer group of foreign tourists cuts back on spending abroad.
