Thai Election Commission to Meet Monday After Poll-Related Drama
(Bloomberg) -- Thailand’s Election Commission will meet on Monday after one of the most dramatic weeks in the nation’s political history.
The commission said it will meet at 10 a.m. in Bangkok, without specifying the agenda.
Early Friday, a political party said Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya had agreed to be its prime ministerial candidate in the March general election. Hours later, King Maha Vajiralongkorn said it was inappropriate for his sister to seek office.
All parties contesting the election had to submit their candidate lists to the commission on Friday. It’s supposed to check and validate the nominations by Feb. 15.
