Taco Bell's Push Abroad Takes Chain to London With Churros, Beer

(Bloomberg) -- Taco Bell is headed to London.

The Mexican-themed dining chain will open its first location in the city’s Hammersmith area, giving locals another option for burritos, churros and even beer. Yum! Brands Inc.-owned Taco Bell has been pushing growth abroad recently as the U.S. market becomes saturated.

Taco Bell has some locations elsewhere in the U.K., as well as in Spain and China. It has said its international drive will help it toward 9,000 restaurants -- up from 7,000 now -- and let it reach $15 billion in global system sales by 2022. Three more London locations are scheduled to open through early next year.

“We’ve seen an overwhelmingly positive response to our U.K. restaurants, and have ambitious plans for growth in London and the broader U.K.,” Taco Bell’s international head, Liz Williams, said in a statement.
