Switzerland Eases Lockdown By Reopening Shops and Museums

Switzerland will allow non-essential shops, museums and outdoor sporting facilities to reopen from next month, the first of several steps to unwind social distancing restrictions to contain the pandemic.

With the Covid-19 case load falling, the government has faced pressure to allow businesses to reopen. The government has urged caution, however, due to the spread of new strains of the coronavirus which are considered to be more transmissible.

Meeting outdoors in groups of 15 people will also be allowed from March 1, and the government is easing restrictions on sporting and cultural activities for young people after criticism they were unduly suffering.

The next relaxation of restrictions will be announced on March 22 and will depend on the epidemiological situation.
