Steve Kroll, Managing Director at Monness Crespi, Dies at 73

Steve Kroll, managing director at research and trading firm Monness, Crespi, Hardt & Co., died on Friday. He was 73.

Kroll worked at the New York-based company for almost 30 years, according to an obituary on the New York Times website Monday. Prior to joining the firm, he managed money for some of the largest institutional funds on Wall Street. No cause of death was given.

He was also a frequent guest on Bloomberg radio shows and podcasts, where he often discussed his “Titans Dinner” events. The gatherings brought together some of the world’s top financiers to discuss issues in business and politics, with guests that included billionaire investor Stan Druckenmiller and Home Depot Inc. co-founder Ken Langone, and were hosted by Kroll.

“His zest for life was second to none and those who worked with him know he will forever be a Titan,” Neil Crespi and Andrew Monness of Monness Crespi said in the obituary.

Kroll is survived by his wife Sally, children Steven Jr. and Lindsay Kroll-Pinchot, and his grandchildren.
