Spain Coronavirus Deaths Likely to Increase, Minister Warns

(Bloomberg) --

The number of deaths in Spain from coronavirus is likely to continue to increase over the next few days, according to Health Minister Salvador Illa.

“It is a very hard week, without a doubt,” Illa said in a press conference Wednesday. Illa was speaking shortly after his ministry reported that 738 people died from the virus in the past 24 hours, the grimmest daily data yet.

Illa also said that Spain has completed the acquisition of health material supplied from China for 432 million euros ($467 million). The government has also acquired 5,5 million coronavirus test kits, said Illa.
