Sonos Launches New $799 Theater Soundbar With Surround Sound

(Bloomberg) -- Sonos Inc., the maker of high-end home audio systems, launched a new home theater product and updated to other speakers on Wednesday.

The $799 Arc soundbar is a long, thin, smart speaker with rounded edges that can be placed below TVs. It fires sound in multiple directions, resulting in a three-dimensional effect. The system adds support for Dolby Atmos, a surround-sound technology used by newer TVs, streaming video content and set-top boxes. The Arc replaces the Playbase and Playbar, the company’s older soundbar models.

Sonos also added faster processors and more memory to its $699 subwoofer, called the Sub, and the $499 Play:5, which it renamed the Sonos Five to better align with recent products such as the Sonos One smart speaker. The new and updated products all go on sale June 10.
