Saudi Woman Trapped at Bangkok Airport, BBC Reports
(Bloomberg) -- An 18-year-old Saudi Arabian woman is reportedly trapped at Bangkok’s main airport after fleeing from her family, BBC News reported.
Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun had been on a trip to Kuwait with her family when she fled on a flight; she was trying to head to Australia via a connecting flight to Bangkok, according to the news service.
She told the BBC she feared she would be forcibly returned to Saudi Arabia; she said Saudi authorities took her passport on arrival in Thailand, the BBC reported.
The Saudi embassy in Bangkok said she has been held at the airport because she didn’t have a return ticket and that she is set to be deported to Kuwait on Monday where most of her family live, according to the news service.
