Rupert Murdoch Says His Vineyard Buildings May Have Fire Damage

(Bloomberg) -- Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire who controls 21st Century Fox Inc., said wildfires in Los Angeles appear to have damaged some structures on the Moraga Estate vineyard where he lives.

“The property was evacuated but based on what we are seeing on TV there may be some damage to some buildings in the upper vineyard area,” he said in a statement on Twitter. “We believe the winery and house are still intact.”

Wind-fanned wildfires sweeping through Southern California forced the closing of stretches of Interstate 405 and the evacuation of neighborhoods including parts of Bel-Air, home to some of the city’s wealthiest households. The 16-acre Moraga Estate, acquired in 2013 for $28.8 million, is squarely in the evacuation zone. Murdoch and wife Jerry Hall occupy a 7,500-square-foot house on the property.
