Renault, Nissan Chief Engineers Meet on Projects, Reuters Says

(Bloomberg) -- Renault SA’s engineering chief, Gilles Le Borgne, and Nissan Motor co.’s Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, in charge of delivering the joint engineering projects, will meet in Japan this week, Reuters reported on Sunday, citing two people familiar with the matter.

Joint projects are now a major focus between Nissan and Renault, the French company’s chairman, Jean-Dominique Senard, has said. One area of focus will be the hybrid power systems and an attempt to pool together all research and development, as each of the three members of the alliance, which also includes Mitsubishi, has its own system.

Renault didn’t respond to a request for comment on the meetings, Reuters said.

Renault could name a new CEO ahead of an important meeting in Japan next Thursday, aimed at showing that the alliance is moving past the fallout of Carlos Ghosn’s ouster.
