Ray Dalio Calls Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs A Hero of His

(Bloomberg) -- Ray Dalio, the billionaire investor known to share both his thoughts about economic paradigms and principles for success on social media, called hip-hop entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs a hero of his.

Posting the second part of a recent mentoring session with the rapper known for hits such as ‘Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down’ and ‘It’s All About the Benjamins,’ Dalio said Combs’ family background laid the foundation for his success.

“When I think about your background, in terms of your dad, your mom and all of that journey, I think then your roots of what you want and what you value came from there,” Dalio said at the start of the ten-minute clip, in which Combs recounted how his mother took on several jobs to support the family after his father died.

Combs said he started a “paperboy franchise” that made as much as $500 a week in order to help with household expenses.

“The can’t stop, won’t stop was like, if I have breath in my body, I’m going to keep on getting up,” Combs told Dalio. “There was points I was crawling, and it’s just been the mantra, the mission statement of my life.”

Dalio ended the video clip by sharing what he said was his own mantra: “Dreams plus reality plus determination equals a successful life.”
