Palestinian Authority to Close West Bank Areas as Virus Surges

The Palestinian Authority will lock down all West Bank areas under its control for five days starting Friday after a recent surge in new coronavirus cases.

All shops except pharmacies and bakeries will be shuttered, a government spokesman said on Wednesday. Cases in Palestinian territories have increased more than 400% since mid-June to 2,708, nearly all of whom live in the West Bank.
