Ocasio-Cortez Praises Push Against Amazon's ‘Creeping Overreach’

(Bloomberg) -- With a nod to President Barack Obama’s campaign catch-phrase, U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to celebrate a report that Amazon.com Inc. may be reconsidering its plans to build a new headquarters in New York City.

Earlier in the day, The Washington Post said opposition from local politicians had pushed the company to rethink its plan to bring 25,000 jobs to a new campus in the city, citing two people familiar with the matter.

Politicians in New York, including City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, Ocasio-Cortez and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, have been vocal critics of the secret negotiations that led to Amazon’s selection of the city.
