NYC Reports Declining Admissions, ICU Patients, Positive Tests

(Bloomberg) --

New York City reported declines in hospital admissions, public hospital intensive-care patients and the percentage of people who tested positive for the new coronavirus.

“It’s a good day,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said Friday at his daily press briefing.

The city reported 176 people admitted to hospitals, down from 227 as of April 21. The number of people in ICUs for Covid-19 declined to 786 from 796, and the percentage of people with positive tests citywide declined to 30% from 32%.

The city needs to see 10 days to two weeks of such declines before it can begin to discuss reopening, de Blasio said.
