New York State to Make Its Own Hand Sanitizer, Cuomo Says

(Bloomberg) -- New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the state now has its own hand sanitizer, “NYS Clean,” to safeguard against price gouging amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The hand sanitizer will be produced by Corcraft, an entity within the state’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. The product is being made at Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Washington County north of Albany, Cuomo said.

At Cuomo’s briefing on the spread of the spread of the virus, a curtain was opened to reveal the product.

Cuomo also announced the number of confirmed cases in the state jumped to 142.

Rick Cotton, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has tested positive, Cuomo said.

If a student tests positive in the state, schools will close for 24 hours to assess before determining next moves, the governor said.
