Mexico’s President Plans to Tour Country Despite Record Virus Deaths

(Bloomberg) -- President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador plans to resume his travelling next week when he visits several states as Mexico deals with peak numbers of deaths due to Covid-19 and high rates of contagion.

Lopez Obrador said that while the decision to restart cross-country tours is still pending approval from top health officials, he gave a detailed agenda: he plans to fly to Cancun on Tuesday to hold security and press briefings and launch the first tranche of the Maya Train project. He would then travel to Merida, Campeche, Palenque, Villahermosa and Veracruz.
