Missing Journalist in Tanzania Tops List of Threats to the Press

(Bloomberg) -- Azory Gwanda, a freelance journalist in Tanzania missing for more than 18 months, tops the latest list of threats to press freedom released by the One Free Press Coalition.

The monthly “10 Most Urgent” list also includes the ongoing case of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, who was killed in October at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul. The murder hasn’t received an independent United Nations criminal investigation, the group said.

Bloomberg News was one of more than a dozen news outlets, including BuzzFeed and the Washington Post, that joined the One Free Press Coalition last month. The Associated Press, Reuters and the Financial Times were already part of the coalition, which aims to raise awareness about threats to press freedom worldwide.
