Merkel Can Look Back and Claim a Win on German Jobless: Chart
(Bloomberg) -- Angela Merkel will quit as head of her party after two decades, suggesting her reign as German chancellor may soon be ending. She took power in 2005, just as the economy was recovering from stagnation in the early 2000s, and said everything would be subordinate to the aim of reducing unemployment. In the past 13 years, the jobless rate has continued to decline, a trend that was barely interrupted even during the global financial crisis.
