Lake Tahoe Avalanche Leaves One Dead
(Bloomberg) -- At least one fatality was confirmed after the Placer County sheriff’s office said a search and rescue team responded to an avalanche on Friday morning at the Alpine Meadows ski resort near Lake Tahoe in Northern California.
A second victim with serious injuries is on the way to a hospital, and volunteers are looking for more potential unaccounted victims, the sheriff’s office said in a tweet.
The resort has received over two feet of snow in the past 24 hours, according to a blog post published on its website earlier in the day.
