New Jersey Governor Hopeful Makes His Final Case at Diners

If you want to be the next governor of the diner capital of the world, you should go to where the voters are.

That’s Jack Ciattarelli’s thinking. The  Republican candidate for New Jersey governor has planned a morning touring the Garden State’s eateries in a final drive for votes in what’s turned out as a competitive race.

Ciattarelli, a former state lawmaker, begins at the Randazzo Pastry Shop & Bakery in Raritan, in northern New Jersey, before going on to a pair of diners in nearby Bridgewater Township. He visited several diners on Monday, too.

Meanwhile, first-term Democratic Governor Phil Murphy is making last-minute media appearances, calling into radio stations and attending campaign events to secure any last minute vote from undecided New Jerseyans.

Murphy led by eight percentage points in a recent poll, but frustration over high taxes has kept Democrats from winning second terms as governor for more than four decades.
