Italy’s New Virus Cases, Daily Fatalities Decline Further

Italy registered the fewest new coronavirus cases in three days, as the government prepares to start free serological tests on 150,000 volunteers from May 25 before it further eases a national lockdown.

  • Civil protection authorities reported 642 cases Thursday, compared with 665 a day earlier
  • Confirmed cases rose to 228,006
  • Daily fatalities fell to 156 from 161 on Wednesday; a total of 32,486 fatalities were reported since the start of the pandemic in late February
