Israel’s Liberman to Recommend Gantz as Next Premier, TV Says

(Bloomberg) -- Avigdor Liberman, a potential kingmaker following this week’s election, said in private conversations that he plans to recommend Benjamin Netanyahu’s main rival, Benny Gantz, as Israel’s next prime minister, Channel 12 reported.

The spokeswoman for Liberman’s Yisrael Beitenu party said the faction would meet on Sunday and make a decision then.

President Reuven Rivlin will begin consultations with political parties on Sunday to decide who will get the first crack at forming a government.

The backing of Liberman may tip the scales in favor of Gantz, head of the Blue and White bloc.
