Iran Reducing Presence in Syria, Jerusalem Post Reports

(Bloomberg) -- Iran is reducing its forces and pulling out of some bases in Syria, the Jerusalem Post reports, citing an unidentified senior Israeli defense official.

The official said Israel will intensify its pressure on Iran until it leaves Syria, the newspaper reported Tuesday on its website. According to foreign media, Israel has struck Iranian troops in Syria dozens of times in the past four months, the website said.

Earlier Tuesday, the Syrian army said Israeli war jets targeted a research center and a military base in the Syrian province of Aleppo. The U.K.-Based Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors Syria’s civil war through a network of activists, said several blasts hit Syrian army and Iranian militia outposts in Aleppo’s Al-Safirah town.
