Indonesia Postpones Second Phase of Jakarta MRT Project: Post

(Bloomberg) -- Indonesia postponed construction of the second phase of Jakarta’s Mass Rapid Transit project because of a land-use issue, the Jakarta Post reported, citing President Director PT MRT Jakarta William Sabandar.

The company delayed the ground breaking of the project, that was originally scheduled in January, because the State Secretariat has yet to issue a land-use permit for Medan Merdeka, the area near the Presidential Palace, Sabandar said.

The project is intended to connect the Hotel Indonesia roundabout in Central Jakarta to Kota Station in West Jakarta, according to the report. MRT Jakarta plans to open the first phase of the rail line in March, Sabandar said in an interview in October.
