Hong Kong Is Prepared for the Worst on Chinese Virus, Carrie Lam Says
Lam promised to be transparent with Hong Kong people to reduce unnecessary anxiety.
(Bloomberg) -- Hong Kong has planned for the worst-case scenario following the outbreak of a mysterious virus in China, Chief Executive Carrie Lam said.
“We still don’t have a single case of confirmed coronavirus yet, but we have been warning people that it could come at any time,” Lam said in a Bloomberg Television interview in Davos, Switzerland.
Lam promised to be transparent with Hong Kong people to reduce unnecessary anxiety and said that the city learned a great deal from combatting the earlier SARS outbreak. Hong Kong has put in place a system of heightened vigilance since the first notification came on Dec. 31, she added.
