Holy Cow! Cubs World Series Clinching Gloves Offered at $250,000 Minimum

(Bloomberg) -- The baseball gloves used to record the final out in Game 7 of the Chicago Cubs’ 2016 World Series win are up for auction.

The Rawlings gloves used by third baseman Kris Bryant, who fielded a ground ball, and first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who caught it for the out, are being offered as a set by Goldin Auctions at a minimum bid of $250,000.

The gloves are signed by both players, whose final out sealed the victory that ended the Cubs’ 108-year World Series championship drought. Both were authenticated by Major League Baseball.

Ken Goldin, founder of Goldin Auctions, which is handling the sale, predicted the gloves would sell for about $750,000. He speculated the Cubs might bid because of the items’ stature in franchise history, adding that there’s never been a comparable piece of memorabilia sold.

Bryant’s right-handed Rawlings PRO200-6K model glove is tan with “Kris Bryant” embroidered in blue on the outer thumb. He signed his name on the lower outside thumb and inscribed vertically on the outer webbing “2016 World Series Champs” and “Last Out!” Rizzo’s left-handed PROCMHO model is embroidered with “Anthony Rizzo” in blue along the outside of the thumb. He signed his name in silver marker on the palm and inscribed “2016 World Series Game Used” and “Game 7 last out.”

The Cubs won the series-deciding game 8-7 over the Cleveland Indians in 10 innings.
