Guardian Life Backs Veteran-Led Vaccination Distribution Drive
(Bloomberg) -- Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America is funding a $1 million grant for vaccination distribution support efforts by veteran-led disaster response organization Team Rubicon.
The more-than 160-year-old life insurer’s grant will help Team Rubicon provide ground support at vaccination sites in under-resourced communities across the U.S., it said Thursday in a statement. The funds will also help the organization in its goal to expand its reach to 500 such locations in the U.S.
Countries across the globe have been rolling out doses of various vaccines to fight the coronavirus, with more than 326 million shots given worldwide. U.S. President Joe Biden announced a plan this week to double the order of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine, bringing the country’s supply to enough for 500 million people.
“Guardian is helping to accelerate the nation’s largest vaccine distribution campaign, and there is no question it will require a greater commitment from corporate America to ensure equitable access,” Andrew McMahon, Guardian’s chief executive officer and president, said in the statement.
