Greece’s Mitsotakis Says EU Needs Plan For Transport, Tourism

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told European Council President Charles Michel that the European Union needs to prepare a coherent framework to ensure the smooth running of transport and tourism activity amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to government officials.

Mitsotakis, as one of the EU leaders who support the idea of issuing a common European bond, reiterated in a teleconference with Michel the need to use address new financial tools to combat the economic consequences of the crisis, said the officials who requested anonymity.

The Greek premier, who was speaking ahead of a teleconference summit of EU leaders on April 23, also discussed the escalation of provocative actions by Turkey in the Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean, they said.
